I use quantitative comparative methods to study violence in conflict and authoritarian settings. Although my research takes a comparative approach with wide regional scope, my principal area of regional expertise is Korea, with ongoing projects examining violence against civilians during the Korean War (1950–) and in contemporary North Korea.
